Mental Health Institute

Here is an early photo of the Cherokee State Hospital as it was known at that time taken by C. W. Salsbery. Salsbery came to Cherokee around 1913 and bought the photography studio of Rollin Steinhaus at 108 S. 2nd Street. This photo was probably taken shortly thereafter. Note that while the sidewalk is paved the main road to the Institution is not.
