Facade Project

The Facade Project was initiated in 2014, through Cherokee Historic Preservation Commission discussions on various brick building conditions, located in the downtown retail core. We noted one in particular that was almost beyond repair. Various discussions ensued with the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, plus the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce - and the project moved along.

The project was a joint effort through money invested by each building owner, various financial institutions in Cherokee, the City of Cherokee, and the Cherokee industrial Corporation.
Completed in fall of 2017, there were a total of 13 buildings maintained.
